Minnesota Wild 2014 NHL Prospect Tournament Roster

Minnesota_Wild_logo-smallThe Minnesota Wild have announced their 2014 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre I.C.E. arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features  First round draft choice Mathew Dumba (2012) who played 13 NHL games last season. Also on the roster is UMass standout Christian Folin who signed as an unrestricted free agent this spring and has already seen NHL action in one regular season game last year.  Alex Gudbranson, who attended the Red Wings 2013 Development camp as a tryout, is getting another look from the Wild after completing his final OHL season.This year’s Tournament is … Continue Reading

Dallas Stars 2014 Prospect Tournament Roster

Dallas NewThe Dallas Stars have announced their 2014 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre I.C.E. arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features the Stars first round draft picks Julius Honka (2014), Jason Dickinson (2013), and Radek Faksa (2012) . Additionally, the Stars roster features six of the nine players selected at the 2014 NHL entry draft in June. Also on the roster is Ludwig Karlsson who was the prospects acquired from Ottawa in the Jason Spezza trade earlier this summer.

Buffalo Sabres to Broadcast NHL Prospect Tournament Games

sabres-logoWWKB ESPN Radio (1520 AM) will broadcast  all Buffalo Sabres games at the 2014 NHL Prospect Tournament. The station, which is a local Buffalo station,  will use Paul Hamilton and Brian Duff to provide live play by play coverage. The Sabres game schedule for the tournament is as follows:

September 12

4:00 pm Buffalo / Carolina

September 13

7:00 pm Buffalo / New York

September 15

3:00 pm Dallas / Buffalo

September 16

New York Rangers 2014 Prospect Tournament Roster

NEW_YORK_RANGERS_LOGOThe New York Rangers have announced their 2014 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre I.C.E. arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features recent acquisition Kevin Hayes who opted not to sign with the Chicago before the deadline ultimately becoming a free agent and signing with the Rangers. Also on this years team are offensive minded forwards Richard NejezchelbJosh Nicholls and Anthony Duclair.  Traverse City native and 2014 second round draft pick, Brandon Halverson, will be one of two goalies backstopping the Rangers.

2014 NHL Prospect Tournament Schedule Announced

Cup3.jpgThe 2014 NHL Prospects tournament schedule has been finalized. This years tournament will run September 12 – 16 at Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City, MI. Participating teams include Buffalo, Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Minnesota, New York and St. Louis. The tournament, which began in 1998, has 440 alumni who have or are currently playing in the NHL for a total of nearly 70,000 NHL games played. The highest scoring alumni include Ilya Kovalchuk, Pavel Datsyuk, Dany Heatley, Henrik Zetterberg, David Legwand, Scott Hartnell, Martin Erat, Alexander Semin and Dan Cleary…. Continue Reading

NHL Prospect Tournament 500 Club Adds 8 New Members

Legwand1A total of 35 NHL prospect alumni have played in more the 500 NHL games since the tournaments inception. The NHL prospects tournament has produced 440 NHL alumni to date, but only 8 percent have broken the 500 game mark. Players likely to join the 500 club next season include Brandon Dubinsky (498); Matt Niskanen (491), Bryan Little (486), Tobias Enstrom (484), Ryan Callahan (470), Nicklas Grossman (463), Marc Staal (460), Jakub Voracek (449).
