Professional Mindset: Nastasiuk Excited for AHL Chance

Nastasiuk1Long gone is the wide-eyed excited rookie who participated in his first NHL prospect tournament back in 2013. In his place is a confident and eager Zach Nastasiuk who is ready to earn his first professional roster spot.

“I am ready and excited for this,” he said. “I’ve been working all summer on my legs and feet. Doing a lot of power skating so I can be quicker out there.”

Something to Prove: Underrated Nosek Could See NHL Time this Season

Nosek1Tomas Nosek is not the most talked about player at NHL prospect tournament and he isn’t even a top line player for the Red Wings. That said the 23 year-old center led all Detroit forwards in goals with three and he tied Andreas Athanasiou and Dylan Larkin for the most points with five.

Reflections on the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup

Emma Poliquin Photography

If you see me today, I will likely have tears welling in my eyes. If there’s one thing I have learned these past few years is that you have to figure out a way to ride the emotional waves. Today I expect the waves to be high and sometimes I am not the best surfer.

The first ever Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup will be awarded and there will be reason to celebrate the eventual champion whether it is Detroit or Columbus, but I’ll look to the sky and … Continue Reading

“I always knew I really liked hockey, but I didn’t know if I wanted to deal with it anymore,” Marsh said. “Sticking it out through tough times is definitely worth it now that I am … Continue Reading

Instant Chemistry: Athanasiou Provides Spark to Top Line

Andreas Athanasiou has speed to burn and tonight he used it to ignite the Red Wings top line. Playing along side Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha the trio  accounted for two of Detroit’s three goals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
