It’s been a long agonizing offseason for Andrej Nestrasil. The former 75th overall pick in the 2009 NHL draft had until June 1st to ink an entry level deal with the Red Wings or his rights would have been lost.

Brian Lashoff wants to put the disappointment of his AHL rookie season behind him. The 21 year-old defenseman suffered two serious injuries that nearly derailed his season and limited him to just 37 games.

“Obviously I wanted to do something special with Maine last year and unfortunately we couldn’t do that,” Nyquist said. “I thought we had a really good and experienced team with a lot of great players but we didn’t make it the whole way and missed the NCAA tournament which was a disappointment.”

Despite the … Continue Reading

From Host to Champion? Wings Look to End 13 Year Losing Streak

For thirteen years the Detroit Red Wings have been the gracious host of the NHL Prospects tournament. While winning the tournament doesn’t really mean anything other than a group of prospects was able to find chemistry quickly, don’t think that the Detroit brass isn’t taking this year’s tournament seriously. While Red Wings teams of years past have been heavily dominated by free agent tryouts, this years team boasts two of their top three prospects in Gustav Nyquist and Brendan Smith as well as the likes of Tomas Jurco, Landon … Continue Reading
