The Chicago Blackhawks have announced their 2016 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre ICE arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features  2014 first round selection, Nick Schmaltz.  Also on the roster is the team’s top pick in 2015 Graham Knott and undersized sniper Alex Debrincat who posted back to back 100 point seasons for Erie of the OHL.

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced their 2016 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre I.C.E. arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features  the teams two first round pick from 2016 Jake Bean and Julien Gauthier. The team also features the seventh overall selection in the 2014, Haydn Fleury and diminutive puck wizard Sergey Tolchinsky.

The New York Rangers have announced their 2016 roster for the NHL prospect tournament at Centre ICE arena in Traverse City, MI. The team features Jimmy Vesey who became a free agent over the summer and was heavily courted by multiple teams including the Red Wings. Also on this years team are skilled forward Pavel Buchnevich, Ty Ronning (son of former NHLer Cliff Ronning) and University of Michigan standout Cristoval Nieves.  Traverse City native and 2014 second round draft pick, Brandon Halverson, will be one of two goalies backstopping the Rangers.

The Detroit Red Wings have invited ten free agents to their annual Development Camp in Traverse City beginning July 6th.

Among those auditioning are two-way forward Mathew Santos (pictured) and Western Michigan University speedster Griffen Molino. Also included on this years roster are a handful of players inked to AHL contracts including Mike Borkowski, Kyle Criscuolo, Alex Globke and Daniel Renouf.

The Detroit Red Wings today released the schedule for their 2016 Development Camp, which will be held at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Mich., from July 6-10. The camp kicks
off on Wednesday, July 6 and features on-ice and off-ice workouts each day, including scrimmages on Saturday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 10.

Training camp is all about competition for roster spots. This year’s camp is no different than any other year in that department. The Red Wings have lots of young players – both forwards and defensemen who are pushing for roster spots. Unfortunately there is very little room, but a strong training camp and exhibition season might change minds or at the very least help establish the depth chart.
