Professional Mindset: Nastasiuk Excited for AHL Chance
Long gone is the wide-eyed excited rookie who participated in his first NHL prospect tournament back in 2013. In his place is a confident and eager Zach Nastasiuk who is ready to earn his first professional roster spot.

Tomas Nosek is not the most talked about player at NHL prospect tournament and he isn’t even a top line player for the Red Wings. That said the 23 year-old center led all Detroit forwards in goals with three and he tied Andreas Athanasiou and Dylan Larkin for the most points with five.
Outside of Andreas Athanasiou, no player was more overdue for their first goal of the NHL prospect tournament than Evgeny Svechnikov. The 6-foot-2, 199 pound forward has been one of the more noticeable forwards outside of the top line for the Red Wings picking up two assists in the first two games and finally scoring Monday night against the Dallas Stars.
Two years ago Adam Marsh almost quit hockey after a disagreement with his Midget AAA coach. Despite walking off the team, the Chicago, IL native was able to land a roster spot on St. John of the QMJHL for the 2014-15 season and he took advantage of the opportunity piling up the points and drawing attention of NHL scouts.
Ville Sarrijarvi’s life has been a whirlwind since being drafted by the Red Wings 73rd overall. The Finnish teen has already inked a three-year entry level contract with Detroit and agreed to play for the Flint Firebirds of the OHL. In between all that he’s also attended the wings development camp back and join and spent the remainder of the off season training.
Andreas Athanasiou has speed to burn and tonight he used it to ignite the Red Wings top line. Playing along side Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha the trio accounted for two of Detroit’s three goals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
